In advertising and marketing, companies usually try to have an edge over other companies and that can lead to having a specific way of sending a message or posting something on the Internet or on a billboard. Sometimes, they can get a little creative and go off the edge a little bit by making a provocative or an controversial type of advertisement so they can spread faster than their competitors. Every year, new lines of products roll out for purchase from countless brands. Some brands are huge and luxury like Gucci, Balenciaga, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton. Most of the big brands are owned by corporations or companies that own multiple brands and make a lot of products. One of these luxury products is perfume. For example, in Figure 1 you clearly see an advertisement for a perfume called Unforgivable Woman. You see a woman pressed up on the door with a celebrity behind her and you see that they are being intimate. It is just really saying how the perfume attracts famous men and if you use their product, you can also get a rich guy. Some of these are owned by celebrities or endorsed by celebrities. This really is something as in 2007, we had more of an idea of women needing men which is false, and this diminishes the value of women. When we see advertisements, we need to not blindly trust celebrities as they are not always good people, and we should not buy something just because a famous person endorses it.

Audience

The audience for this perfume is particularly possibly in the age group of 21 to 26 according to Happi.com stating that 13-26 uses perfumes the most, and since usually this is when females usually are trying to find a partner and usually, they try to see if a man is stable, so with this age group this will be most likely leads to buying the product. Also, towards single woman and in the African American group because due to of how the celebrity is in the picture being Sean John so it will be more sense for African women, but I am sure anyone can use it. Now, though, women see P. Diddy as a sex offender and a horrible person due to allegations and the crimes that he committed allegedly throughout the years that he was free to do whatever he felt like.

Purpose

The purpose of this perfume is just trying to sell to women a product that can make themselves feel more attractive and feel have a better confidence with them themselves and this can lead to finding the right partner for them, allegedly to the ad, as seen by the woman pulling a celebrity. So, let us say like if someone is insecure about themselves, they will buy this product and feel more confident that they have an edge over another woman and they can feel more empowered. Also, since the celebrity is remarkably close to the model in the picture, this can also describe that the perfume is very well liked, and the sun is very pleasant to a man’s nose. The title of unforgiveable women could point how the girl took away a wealthy man for herself and people would not forgive her due to her being selfish.

Controversial

For decades, P. Diddy slowly popped up and soon he gained a large following and made a lot of money. With a lot of money comes power and P. Diddy did horrible things. He would have wild parties and blackmail people who had status, and they did not want to ruin their image. He allegedly had part of sending orders to kill people. He was allegedly touching people, especially minors, one famous clip was when Justin Bieber spent 48 hours (about 2 days) with Diddy alone. Imagine how terrifying that is. You cannot ask for help or anything. There are other crimes, but these are the major ones. After all of this, no one would trust someone for anything since they are just piece of trash to society.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the promoter of this perfume probably succeeded in spreading the word about the new perfume, as during the time the celebrity was popular, and women perfumes guests sold the lot since it’s something that can make a person unique or make someone feel that they have an edge, for example. Of course, now that we know of the allegations and the crimes that he committed. As of today, the perfume would not sell anymore due to the backlash that he had and especially since this is a perfume for woman and how he was acting towards the model which contradicts the point of the perfume as you want to attract someone famous analytical person, not someone who is a criminal. This advertisement did not age well overall,
